PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Sifa Organic Fertilizer is a Legorn Fertilizers product made primarily from animal manure and other naturally occurring raw materials. The processed fertilizer granules are well suited for use on Kenya soils with relative ease of use including mechanized application.

The high organic matter content in Sifa Fertilizer repairs and detoxifies “tired” soils that have been damaged from long and indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers. It restores the soil’s natural characteristics through improved soil structure, moisture and nutrients holding capacity also known as CEC. Sifa Organic Fertilizer also supplies a balanced natural NPK plus other trace elements through a slow and continuous nutrient release mechanism.

HOW SIFA ORGANIC FERTILIZER WORKS

Sifa organic fertilizer has splendid soil conditioning qualities. It loosens and improves soil tilth. It also repairs the damaged soil and restores the natural characteristics for the plant life. This is made possible through decomposition of organic matter and the formation of a more complex organic matter called humus in the soils.
It supplies Macronutrients and Micronutrients. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are present in the forms that are readily supplied to plants through slow-release mechanism. The nutrients are available as the plants require them instead of in one intense flush as the case with inorganic fertilizers
It increases soil biodiversity and biology. Sifa Organic Fertilizer is biologically active hence encourages survival of a range of microorganisms that enhance the health of both soil and crops and by extension will suppress some types of harmful microorganisms.
Sifa organic fertilizer increases the soil’s water-holding capacity and improves tolerance to water stress. This enables water to be held in the root zone for plant use. Consequently, irrigation requirement is significantly lowered especially where water is scarce and or expensive to irrigate. Through its high organic matter content, Sifa organic Fertilizer lightens heavy (high clay) soils, allowing better infiltration of both air and water into the root zone- improved aeration.
It further improves the soil cation exchange capacity (CEC). This is a mechanism in which nutrients are bound and held in the soil. The greater the CEC, the more nutrients can be stored in the soil hence supply of nutrients to plants is unlimited and therefore encourages better growth, development and higher yield.
Sifa Organic fertilizer causes unlocking of nutrients and pH buffering: In a convectional situation phosphorus fertilizers react with ions of Ca, Mg, Al and Fe present in soil to form insoluble compounds hence rendering the nutrients unavailable to plants. The use of Sifa fertilizers will introduce humic substances that cause neutralization of the soil pH- both in acidic and alkaline soils. At neutralized pH, elements that are held in the soil in unavailable form to plant roots become readily available. Additionally, humic substances present in Sifa Fertilizer release carbon dioxide from calcium carbonates present in alkaline soils. This liberated carbon dioxide may be taken up by the plant or it may form carbonic acids. The carbonic acids act on soil minerals to release plant nutrients

APPLICATION METHODS AND RATES

Broadcast on the surface then till or water into soil
Apply in a narrow band on or beneath the surface.
For a mechanized system use the drop spreader or the rotary spreader
Apply preferably in cool weather or in the morning and incorporate in the soil soon after application.
